PHNOM PENH: Cambodia and the European Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (EuroCham Cambodia) have discussed further cooperation on agriculture.
The discussion occurred here in Phnom Penh on Mar. 27 between H.E. Dith Tina, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and Mr. Tassilo Brinzer, Chairman of EuroCham Cambodia.
H.E. Dith Tina supported EuroCham’s new working group on agriculture and encouraged the Good Agriculture Practice (GAP) to focus on the quality and sustainability of critical crops. He suggested EuroCham analyze and ensure the profitability for farmers.
He said the ministry stands ready to provide support for the private sector to deploy a technical team to train farmers on agricultural production in line with the European market through contract farming.
The minister also requested the EuroCham to study the possibility of the EU banks offering low interest-loan to farmers.
