PHNOM PENH: Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Prak Sokhonn received here at the Ministry on Jan. 22 a courtesy call from H.E. Ms. Markéta Kolc Hájková, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Cambodia.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, during the meeting, H.E. Prak Sokhonn warmly welcomed and congratulated H.E. Ms. Markéta Kolc Hájková on her appointment as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of Cambodia. He expressed his deep appreciation for the long-standing relations and productive cooperation between Cambodia and the Czech Republic across areas of mutual interest, and reaffirmed the Ministry’s strong commitment to working closely with the Ambassador to further strengthen and elevate bilateral relations and cooperation, building on the solid foundation established by her predecessors.
The Deputy Prime Minister also conveyed his sincere gratitude to the Czech Republic for its continued official development assistance (ODA), which has contributed to Cambodia’s socio-economic development.
In response, Ambassador Markéta Kolc Hájková underscored the importance of maintaining regular bilateral dialogue and close cooperation across all sectors. She also conveyed the Czech Republic’s intention to exchange high-level visits with Cambodia in 2026 to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The Ambassador further reaffirmed her strong commitment to working closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, as well as other relevant Cambodian ministries and institutions, to further deepen bilateral partnership based on shared values and mutual respect during her diplomatic mission in Cambodia.
On multilateral cooperation, both sides expressed optimism about continued mutual support within international organisations. They also exchanged views on regional and international issues, reaffirming their shared commitment to peace and stability.
During the discussion, H.E. Prak Sokhonn also briefed the Ambassador on the latest developments regarding the Cambodia-Thailand border situation.
