Cambodia and SK Securities Forge New Investment Partnership

PHNOM PENH: On September 11, 2024, Cambodia and South Korea’s leading investment firm, SK Securities, have solidified their strategic partnership following a meeting between former Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen, President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia and SK Securities President Jung Jun-Ho.

President Jung extended a warm welcome to Samdech Hun Sen, noting his significant influence in Cambodia and the strong bilateral relations between the two countries. He expressed his company’s interest in investing in Cambodia and exploring various business opportunities.

Mr. Jung informed Samdech that SK Securities is a UN-accredited company committed to sustainable finance. The company is already involved in environmental conservation efforts, such as a 50-hectare mangrove restoration project in Kampot province.

Samdech Hun Sen welcomed SK Securities’ interest in Cambodia, highlighting the country’s favorable business climate and abundant resources. He encouraged the company to conduct thorough research to identify specific investment opportunities.

Regarding infrastructure development, Samdech mentioned the recent opening of a new airport in Siem Reap and the planned construction of airports in Kandal province and the coastal region. He also emphasized the need for Cambodia to strengthen its processing industry to capitalize on its rich natural resources.

Samdech Hun Sen also highlighted Cambodia’s attractive investment environment, including its flexible company registration process and favorable foreign currency policies. He also emphasized the country’s strategic location, particularly in terms of regional supply chain resilience.
