PHNOM PENH: Cambodia and Korea agreed to review its country partnership strategy for Cambodia to align with the Pentagonal Strategy-Phase I, during a meeting on September 15, 2023, at the Council for the Development of Cambodia.
On Friday afternoon, September 15, 2023, at the Council for the Development of Cambodia, His Excellency Im Sour, Deputy Secretary General of the Cambodia Development Cooperation Board of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDCB/CDC) received a courtesy and discussion meeting by His Excellency Hahn Gyeong Phil, Deputy Minister for International Development Cooperation at the Office for Government Policy Coordination of the Republic Korea and officials from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, and Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the overall situation of the Official Development Assistance (ODA) of the Republic of Korea to Cambodia and to strengthen the development cooperation and partnership between the two countries.
H.E. Im Sour warmly welcomed the delegation from the Republic of Korea and explained the mechanisms for managing ODA provided by the Republic of Korea and Korea’s Country Partnership Strategy (CPS) which focuses on priority areas namely infrastructure, water management and health/ hygiene, education, and rural development.
H.E. Im Sour emphasized the review of the Country Partnership Strategy, in order to align with the priorities articulated in the Pentagonal Strategy-Phase I. In response, H.E. Hahn Gyeong Phil agreed to review the CPS.
H.E. Deputy Minister informed the intention to increase the volume of grant assistance to Cambodia in the next fiscal year. In conclusion, H.E. Im Sour expressed gratitude towards the people and the government of the Republic of Korea for continued support of Cambodia’s socio-economic development. H.E. strongly believed that the partnership between the two countries would flourish and be further strengthened.
