PHNOM PENH: Doppelmayr Group, an Austrian company specializing in cable car passenger transport construction and innovation, has expressed interest in investing in public transportation in Phnom Penh.

At the second working meeting on February 7, 2023, Mr. Touch Chankosal, a senior official of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, and Doppelmayr Group, led by Mr. Martin Ladner, Regional Manager, disclosed the company's investment intentions.

The goal of this meeting is to discover an understanding of study projects related to public transportation services, as well as information on other projects that are being implemented, particularly projects related to the public transportation sector, so that companies can study and connect their operations with projects. Existing or planned projects to help reduce traffic congestion in Phnom Penh and other Cambodian cities.

According to the senior official, Cambodia currently has a number of study projects that are still being studied, including the High-speed Train construction project, the Automated Rail Operating System (AGT) project, and the monorail study.

Doppelmayr Group is an Austrian company that specializes in the planning, development, design, manufacture, construction, and support of innovative projects involving the safe and efficient use of cable car passenger transportation in urban, suburban, and rural areas. The company has expressed an interest in investing in Cambodian public transportation, particularly in Phnom Penh.

Cambodia has consistently stated its intention to accept private sector investment or contributions from development partners in order to further develop Cambodia's transportation sector.
