Another wastewater treatment plant set to complete in a month

PHNO PENH: In June, the third construction project for the wastewater treatment plant located in Village 4, Sangkat 4 of Sihanoukville, Preah Sihanouk coastal province, will be completed as scheduled.

During an inspection visit to the construction site recently, Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen shared this information. The three wastewater treatment plants, which utilize the latest Israeli technology in Membrane Aerated Biofilm Reactors (MABR), are among the many successes that the Royal Government has invested in, including 37 road infrastructures, high-rise buildings, and other new infrastructures.

The construction process, carried out by XWATER Technology Co., Ltd., took 22 months and cost approximately US$20 million. These investments will help to turn Sihanoukville into a Smart City and Preah Sihanouk province into a critical multi-purpose model special economic zone in the country.

The first and second wastewater treatment plants can handle 5,200 cubic meters and 7,200 cubic meters of wastewater per day, respectively, while the third plant can treat up to 20,000 cubic meters per day.

Additionally, Preah Sihanouk province has seven wastewater pumping stations: four built by the National Committee for Coastal Management and Development of Cambodia, and three made by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport.
