An $80 million’s solar panel plant to build in Kratie

KRATIE: Kratie is a province located far from Phnom Penh that has received a lot of attention in recent years, particularly due to a series of investments.​​

Kratie recently received an $80 million investment to construct a solar panel factory. More activity is expected once the government completes infrastructure linking Phnom Penh and other provinces to Kratie.

The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) has approved an investment project by L-Q New Energy CO., LTD to establish a solar panel factory in the investment zone, according to a recent press release from officially page. UBE Snuol in Kratie province, in particular, invested 84.5 million US dollars and created approximately 1,000 jobs.

Through this investment project, Kratie province where less investment is now becoming more interested. This province was previously with only investment potentials such as agriculture and agro-industry. Now its investment potential has shifted.

Preap Kol, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Century 21 Zillion Holding, stated that development in the province or remote areas attracts more intellectuals, scholars, and investors. It could help transform province from less developed to more developed and attractive.

“In fact, according to the provinces, there is potential in the land sector, but only in each region and province,” he explained. “However, if we contribute to development, the provinces will have more potential in the future.”

The Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, has previously urged relevant officials to inspect and study the construction of roads near border provinces and establish more special economic zones. It could encourage investment in border provinces and produce and export abroad.
