PHNOM PENH: H.E. Dith Tina, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, has underscored key priority policies aimed at modernising Cambodia’s agricultural sector while presiding over the Ministry’s annual meeting held on Mar. 19 to review achievements in 2025 and set objectives for 2026.
Addressing the meeting, H.E. Minister highlighted progress in implementing the fifth and sixth priority policies, focusing on maintaining price stability, building commercial agricultural communities, and deploying commune agricultural officials. He described these initiatives as timely investments by the Royal Government to improve livelihoods and generate economic benefits for local communities.

He also emphasised ongoing public administration reforms, which include a comprehensive review of the Ministry’s functions and operations to enhance efficiency. These reforms will pave the way for the establishment of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences, aimed at consolidating skilled human resources and strengthening research and development (R&D) capacity to support innovation and productivity in the sector.
H.E. Dith Tina encouraged officials and private sector stakeholders to actively contribute ideas and lessons learned from 2025 to ensure that 2026 delivers tangible results from ongoing reforms.
Agriculture remains one of the four pillars of Cambodia’s national economy. To further strengthen the sector, the Royal Government is promoting a strategic shift from subsistence farming to large-scale commercial agriculture, with a focus on increasing farmers’ incomes through high-value and processed agricultural products.
According to a Ministry report, Cambodia exported nearly 15 million tonnes of agricultural products in 2025, marking a 27.8 percent increase year-on-year and generating approximately US$5 billion in revenue. AKP
