A Vietnamese Firm Grows Crops in Cambodia for Export

PHNOM PENH: Vietnam’s THACO AGRI is growing crops, especially bananas, in Cambodia for export to international markets, especially China and Japan.

The update was shared by the THACO AGRI’s management when receiving a group of over 50 journalists from over 20 institutions, led by Mr. Puy Kea, President of the Club of Cambodian Journalists (CCJ), in the company in Snuol district, Kratie province, recently.

The company has established a multi-agricultural area on over 10,000 hectares of economic concession land for animal raising and farming, said the firm’s management.

Of the total land area, approximately 5,000 hectares have been used for planting bananas as its main produce. THACO AGRI pinned its vision to become a leading agricultural corporation in the ASEAN in 2025.

It puts forth a core strategy for large-scale husbandry through industrial methods, biological and digital expertise implementation, and value chain management for fresh and processing products export.

The firm now provides more than 14,000 job opportunities, 90 percent of which are for Cambodians.
