PHNOM PENH: The Cambodian Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training has announced its full support for the recruitment of more than 6,000 workers to fill gaps in the production chain of General Enterprise Garment (Cambodia) Co., Ltd.’s second garment factory expansion in Kampong Speu province.
The announcement was made on Thursday, October 5, 2023, when Labor Minister Heng Sour met with General Enterprise Garment Executive Director Ray Chen. During the meeting, Minister Sour congratulated the company on its decision to expand its investment in Cambodia and expressed his confidence that the new factory would meet both international standards and the needs of workers.
Minister Sour also urged the company to cooperate with the National Employment Agency (NEA) to recruit workers for the new factory. He said that the ministry was happy to assist in finding workers from all over Cambodia.
Mr. Chen thanked Minister Sour for his support and assistance. He said that the company would continue to work closely with the NEA to recruit workers quickly so that the new factory could begin operations as soon as possible.
General Enterprise Garment (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. is a large Chinese textile manufacturer and exporter. The company’s first factory in Kandal province has created thousands of jobs for Cambodians.
